SoundMuter
A downloadable project for Windows
Tired of games blasting your ears? I'm building a free SoundMuter utility (WIP)
Hi lads, as a fellow gamer and programmer, I like building small tools to solve annoying everyday problems.
I recently built a small Windows utility called SoundMuter, but before going further with development, I’d like to know if this solves a problem that other gamers actually experience.
The idea is simple: when launching a new game, the audio volume can sometimes be extremely high and suddenly blast your ears before you have time to adjust it.
I’d like to ask:
- Do you experience this issue often?
- Would a tool that automatically manages game audio be useful to you?
- What features would you expect from something like this?
Current features:
- Continuous monitoring of selected applications.
- Automatic or manual muting/unmuting.
- Customizable global shortcuts.
- Configurable mute duration and audio threshold.
- Lightweight Windows application with automatic settings saving.
The project is still in early development, so there are some bugs to fix (for example duplicate notifications or focus issues when using shortcuts).
My goal is to keep SoundMuter free so anyone can use or contribute to it.
I’d really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or ideas. Thanks for taking the time to read!
